Development of the club
Women's basketball in Lokomotiv appeared in the mid-forties. The team is a multiple champion of the country and winner of the cup. The team also plays with success on the international stage. In 1966/67, in the European tournament of the "Ronketti" cup, the team reached the semi-finals, where they lost to the future winner Spartak (Moscow region). In 1977/78, it again reached the semi-finals, losing to Levski-Spartak.
In 2014, Diana Dilova-Brainova, winner of a bronze medal from the Olympic Games in Montreal (1976) and a silver medal from Moscow (1980), was at the head of the women's division. Since 2015, the young coach Lilia Georgieva, born in 1994, has completed a coaching profile at the National Academy of Sciences and entered the club directly from the role of a basketball player to that of a teacher. The two are starting almost from scratch, but their hard work, combined with the drive and enthusiasm of the training girls, is paying off. In the 2017/2018 season, the girls of Lokomotiv (Sf) under 12 won bronze medals from the republican championship, losing only in the semi-finals to the champion Rila athlete by 1 point difference.
